My Design Philosophy
We live in an extremely chaotic and crazy world nowadays! More than ever, our home is our refuge away from the noise and hyperactivity of everyday life. When you turn that door knob and walk into your home at the end of the day, you should say “Ahhh…I’m home!” Your home should be LIVABLE, warm, inviting, comfortable, cozy and should reflect your person and personality. In my opinion, it should be sophisticated, but also very approachable and not be too “precious” to enjoy—everything you own should be able to be used and be functional in some way. Remember, your home is not a museum! Too often I see a gorgeous, over-the-top interior space in some of the top design magazines and think to myself, “WOW, but does anyone ever sit down in that room or actually use it?” No matter the style, size or value of your home, townhome or apartment, I think spaces should be enjoyable, playful, functional and have some surprises or unexpected things. I love easy interiors and a casual lifestyle, that could be any type of design style (modern, contemporary, transitional, traditional or eclectic…it doesn’t really matter!) that incorporate collected or vintage things. Your home shouldn’t be contrived or too planned and put together—no matchy-match either. I believe in mixing old and new things to create a one-of-a-kind look and feel that is all your own.
